Diary of A Hustling OAP (S2E1)

It’s been a while I rode the BRT bus and yesterday when I did, I got to ride in a female-driven BRT bus.
Got a message, yesterday, to come pick my cheque from one of these advert agencies. Yea… just when I was beginning to go through “mid-career-crisis”, I get called to come pick up a cheque for a job which I voiced since last year. Yes! They owe for that long and even sometimes longer. Well, hence the “mid-career-crisis”.

Diary of A Hustling OAP (Season 1 – Episode 8)

Another day, another adventure! I had to get out of bed and head on to somewhere in Ogba, where, according to a guy I just met the other day, another audition was being held. Talking about the other day; I had returned to Soundcity for that re-scheduled appointment with Deji and thank goodness his production crew was around. He took

Diary of A Hustling OAP (Season 1 – Episode 7)

I walked into the venue for the audition and it seemed I arrived relatively on time because there were not many people present. You remember the text message I got on my phone just the other day while at Moshood’s studio…well that’s the audition I am here for now. I took a seat, smiled and said ‘hello’ to the people around me. And shortly, more people strolled in and before you could say ‘Jack

Diary of A Hustling OAP (Season 1 – Episode 6)

I know I’ve never done TV before but how hard could it be? After all, Femi Obong-Daniels had always encouraged me to do TV. Radio is my first love, but I thought; while I’m looking to get back on radio, how about I also try to nail a TV gig too and that’s how I found myself on my way to Soundcity (NB: Remember, though, this was still sometime around the early part of the 2011)

Diary of A Hustling OAP (Season 1 – Episode 5)

There’s something about the environment and atmosphere of the place one works. As an employee, one has to have a kind of chemistry with one’s working environment. Well, atleast this could be considered when one is trying to get the job, because let’s face it that same environment you may like and love initially, may get poisoned along the way. In the beginning though, one has to know if that place is where they’d be excited, every single day, to come in to work. Anyways, I was checking out the vibe as I walked through the offices and down the corridors heading towards the studio where I should be auditioning.

Diary of A Hustling OAP (Season 1 – Episode 4)

I was laughing real hard now and might I say; without apologies. Kirk was really cracking me up. He’s quite a cool guy and real fun to be around. I just met Kirk Anthony and he already makes me feel at home. (NB: All these were happening around the early part of 2011. Kirk Anthony used to be the Head of Programmes at Smooth fm until he died in 2013. May his soul continue to rest in peace) He had taken me on a

Diary of A Hustling OAP (Season 1 – Episode 3)

I got to Beat fm. The security guy would not let me go in to see the Head of Programs. Instead, he himself goes in, comes back and asks me for my CV. I opened my bag, brought out one of my cds and a copy of my CV and gave him.
He takes them in and while he’s not around, I put a call to the front desk (you remember I had the number from when they called me). When the lady picked up, I introduced myself, told her I was in the premises and wanted to see the Head of Programs. She tells me I could, but I’ll have to wait a while since the HOB was in a

Diary of A Hustling OAP (Season 1 – Episode 2)

It's morning, already! I had a splendid night rest, in my tiny bed, in my tiny room for which I am grateful for, ofcourse. *smiles* Don’t get me wrong. I checked my time piece and it was about 7am and now; how about a quick flash through what’s really happening here.
We are getting to the end of February in the year 2011 and I just relocated to Lagos, having resigned from my former place of work – Cool fm, Port-Harcourt where until
